Making a new post again. Im unemployed & unable to work due to disbaility + college busyness. Looking to move out soon and preferably help my boyfriend out with moving a long too. My current goal for moving out is 500 USD approximately. Goal towards funding my boyfriend’s flight to here, would be 960 USD approximately.
I’d prefer if donations towards the flight went to my boyfriend, and one towards affording the apartment’s rent went to me. Please share & help if you can, please dont tag as anything, Thank you

Hurricane Hilary is about to make landfall and that whole desert area is supposed to get a years worth of rain or more. Death Valley is supposed to get twice the annual rainfall. Severe winds, massive flooding, and landslides are all strong possibilities.
This is gonna get ugly. Please spread the word. This is a majorly anomalous event and people may be unaware of the threat headed their way.
Flash floods are definitely gonna kill people, so here’s your regularly scheduled PSA:
Desert soil does not absorb a significant amount of water. It reaches maximum saturation very very quickly, and all the rest of the water rushes downhill. Even if you can’t tell that the ground is not perfectly flat, the water can. And it will move. Quickly. No, faster than that. Nope, still faster. If you try to cross moving floodwater, you will get swept downstream and probably die.
Do not try to wade in/cross flood water that is any deeper than the thickness of the sole of an average athletic shoe, no I am not kidding, the water will get deeper literally while you’re standing in it.
This goes for cars, too. I’ve seen entire vehicles getting swept downstream in flash floods because the driver thought they could cross the “puddle” and Found Out.
i think popular media culture is poisoned in the following ways:
if you like something, people will make fun of you because you have admitted to experiencing a sincere emotion. this makes people defensive about what they like.
if you don’t like something, people will take your opinion personally and attack you. this makes people feel like they have to have a very good reason to dislike something.
people reach for reasons to like vs dislike things that are serious and often politically relevant so they can defend themselves from other opinion-havers.
these positions mutually reinforce each other until it is assumed that any declaration of liking or disliking something is both personally and politically relevant by default.
i am forced to look at this every time one of my fandom posts blows up.

this post is perfect because it hits that sweet spot of being able to destroy my notifications with pissed off people forever BUT also being controversial enough that people who agree with this won’t reblog it either so it’s never breaching containment and I live in peace
